Majorie Reese Davis-Sams, Board Member At Large
Majorie R. Davis-Sams, MHSA, RN is a licensed registered nurse with over 35 years of healthcare experience in many different areas. Hailing from her birth state of
Alabama and growing up in Louisville , Kentucky during her formative years and the late 1960s planted a seed of interest in her ethnicity, African culture and history that was nurtured and is shared with others to this very day. The interest was so intense that she planned her own Afrocentric wedding ceremony, a first for her family and Louisville, Kentucky. Moving on to Washington, D.C. further enhanced the family’s involvement in culture by her husband attending Howard University and enrolling her young daughter in a Shule Ya Watoto. From that point on she supported most ethnic and Afrocentric involvements, supportive of our history and experience as a people. Having named her three children and three grandchildren African surnames ensures a piece of our history.
Her ultimate goal is to educate and share an awareness of wholistic well being of mind, body and soul through lobbying, writing policies, developing and coordinating environments for our youth to continue our rich culture and history. She endeavors to foster an awareness of need and a torch of pride to light the way towards a stronger future for all of our beautiful people of the African.
